Dr. Balvindar Kaur, MBBS, FANZCA
Consultant Anaesthetist
Balvindar is a consultant anaesthetist who trained in Melbourne via the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Childrens Hospital, Western Health and Mercy Hospital for Women.
Following a 6 month paediatric anaesthesia fellowship at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne she moved to Canada in 2011 spending a year as a postgraduate fellow in transplant and regional anaesthesia at Vancouver General Hospital (Vancouver, Canada) where she published extensively and presented at major international meetings. She then continued on further postgraduate training in paediatric anaesthesia at the Alberta Childrens Hospital (Calgary, Canada) where she stayed on to work as a locum consultant anaesthetist before returning to Australia in late 2013. Since returning, she has worked in a fulltime staff specialist role at Ballarat Health where she was the ANZCA supervisor of training.
She is currently a visiting anaesthetist at the Royal Childrens Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital in Melbourne and has regular private sessions at Mercy Private Hospital in East Melbourne and Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, Brighton.
Her main interests are anaesthesia for Ear Nose and throat surgery and the difficult airway, reconstructive plastic surgery for congenital deformitites (cleft palate, lip) and teaching anaesthesia trainees.
She is a member of Health for Humanity – a medical volunteer organization based in Vancouver, and regularly commits 2 to 4 weeks annually as an anaesthetist on international missions.
